Meet Christine
Hello Neighbors! My name is Christine Ibbotson. I am running for North County Fire Protection District, Division 3 and I am proud to call Fallbrook, CA home. Our communities face increasing wildfire risk, changing environmental conditions, and growing demands on emergency services. The decisions made today will shape how well Fallbrook and Rainbow are prepared tomorrow. That’s why experienced, forward-looking leadership matters.I bring a unique perspective to the North County Fire Protection District Board: a background in Earth and Environmental Science combined with nearly two decades of business leadership and community service. As the only candidate with formal training in the natural systems that influence wildfire risk, I understand the environmental challenges our communities face and the importance of preparing before emergencies occur.I have built organizations, managed resources, led teams, and served in roles requiring transparency and accountability. My experience overseeing public investments and serving our community has taught me that effective leadership requires asking the right questions, making informed decisions, and delivering results. I work for one of the leading luxury brokerages as well as being a professional gemologist and gemstone cutter. I know a gem when I see one, and our community is even more precious than the world-class tourmaline mined in our local mountains.I will bring scientific and historical understanding of wildfire risk, practical business experience, and a proven record of leadership to prepare our fire district for the challenges ahead. I would be honored to earn your trust, your support, and your vote.Together we can prepare and protect our special community.

More Than Fires

85% of NCFPD calls are medical. That means the fire district is not just preparing for the next wildfire. It is answering calls every day when someone needs help.I know how quickly a medical emergency can become serious. I have severe food allergies and carry EpiPens with me at all times. I do not take for granted the people who will be on the other end of that call when seconds matter. Our firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics protect this community in countless ways—often without a fire in sight. They need a Board that understands the full scope of their mission and makes thoughtful decisions about the staffing, training, equipment, and resources required to meet it.I am committed to supporting all of our first responders who selflessly serve our community and save lives.
Community Leadership and Service
For more than 18 years, I have served our community through nonprofit leadership, public oversight, and volunteer service, helping organizations strengthen governance, accountability, and long-term planning. My commitment to serving others has shaped my approach to leadership: listening carefully, making informed decisions, and working collaboratively to deliver results that benefit the entire community.
Environmental Science Background
Fire and emergency mitigation has been a passion of mine for decades, as shown by my degrees and credentials from UCLA, NYU, and Pepperdine. My education helps me understand the environmental conditions that influence wildfire behavior and the importance of long-term planning.I am the only candidate with an environmental science background who studied the factors that make wildfires deadly.
Understanding our shared community, history, and ecology
Understanding our community means understanding its history, landscape, and environment. From the agricultural roots of Fallbrook and Rainbow to the vegetation that shapes our surroundings, I believe effective leadership requires understanding how the past influences the challenges we face today. This perspective is essential when addressing wildfire risk, infrastructure needs, and responsible land management.
